The chaos in change

Change is usually a good thing. When done correctly it can be beneficial to the end product of anything being created or developed. But when done incorrectly it can create chaos and massive problems with the schedule. During a development, cycle change should only occur under very specific circumstances. Most development cycles are time-driven so if your particular cycle is not then this post does not apply to you. For those of you where it is, understand that the decision to incorporate that change or not in your current cycle will depend on the complexity of the change and its impact on other areas of your product. Careful thought and planning should be taken before deciding to include the change or not. Without that preparation changes of any complexity will wreak havoc in the development cycle.
